India's First Telecom Manufacturing Zone to Launch in Gwalior
India is building its first big factory for making phones and telecom equipment in a city called Gwalior.
Two important leaders, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Mohan Yadav, signed a paper to start the project.
The factory will cover a large area and will be ready to use right away.
The government will give all the money needed for the first part of the building.
The plan says it could bring in a lot of money and create many new jobs for people in the area.
Some companies have already promised to invest and make jobs there.
The project is part of India’s plan to make more technology at home instead of buying it from other countries.
It will also help India become a big player in making telecom gear worldwide.
The factory will have labs, design rooms, and places to test and build new gadgets like 5G and 6G phones.
MoU signed by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to set up India's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Gwalior.
The 350‑acre zone will use a plug‑and‑play model; the Centre will provide 100% financial assistance of Rs 500 crore for core infrastructure in the first phase.
Investment estimates range from Rs 3,500 crore to Rs 9,000 crore, with the zone expected to create more than 10,000 jobs (up to 14,000 in some estimates).
Companies such as Dixon Technologies, HFCL, and Tejas Networks have committed about Rs 2,000 crore in the first phase, projected to generate 4,500 jobs.
A Special Purpose Vehicle will be set up, with the Madhya Pradesh government holding a 51% stake and the Department of Telecommunications 49%.
