Govt finalises PLI 2.0 for drone ecosystem
The Indian government has finalised a new scheme called PLI 2.0 to help make more drones and their parts in India.
This scheme will give money to companies that make drones and their components locally.
The government hopes to announce this plan in the budget for the year 2027.
Right now, many drone parts are imported, but the new plan aims to make at least 30% of the drone parts in India.
The scheme will also support services like leasing drones and selling software to operate them.
There are about 300 companies in India that already make drones for different uses like farming, building infrastructure, and security.
The previous scheme, PLI 1.0, gave ₹120 crore to drone makers based on how much they sold.
Government finalises PLI 2.0 scheme to boost domestic drone manufacturing.
Scheme expected to be announced in the Union Budget for FY27.
Aims to reduce import dependence and increase localisation to 30%.
Covers manufacturing, leasing, and software sales for drones.
Budgetary allocation of over ₹1,000 crore under consideration.
