Dutch Police Disperse Violent Far-Right Protest in The Hague

Several hundred far-right protesters gathered in The Hague for a demonstration about immigration and asylum policies.

The protest was organized under the name We Are the People.

Some protesters threw fireworks and other objects at police.

Because of the violence, officials stopped and banned a planned march.

Police then ordered the crowd to leave and dispersed it.

Reports said at least 24 people were arrested for offenses including disobeying orders and possessing weapons illegally.

Police reportedly used pepper spray and a water cannon.

The justice minister said some protesters made Nazi salutes and used antisemitic slogans.

The unrest happened about a year after another right-wing protest in The Hague also became violent.
