India Gains in Global Talent as Migration Slows
The movement of highly skilled workers around the world has slowed down for the first time since 2020, with about 220,000 fewer people moving for work.
This is happening because of economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and stricter migration rules, especially in places like Canada and the UK.
However, India is doing really well and is becoming a top place for talent, especially in areas like AI and STEM.
The US and UAE are also attracting a lot of skilled workers.
India has a lot of educated people and is producing many AI graduates, which helps it stand out globally.
Global talent migration fell 8.5% YoY, with 220,000 fewer cross-border moves.
India gained in global AI and STEM talent shares, rising to the top 10 in all tracked categories.
The US increased its share of STEM talent by 3.3 percentage points.
The UAE attracted around 178,000 highly skilled professionals in 2023.
India's strong educational system and representation in top global universities support its sustained growth in talent.
