Maharashtra Forms SIT To Probe Kalyan Government Land Transfers

Maharashtra Forms SIT To Probe Kalyan Government Land Transfers

The Maharashtra government is investigating what may have happened to government grazing land in six Kalyan villages.

About 174 acres and 22 gunthas of land are involved.

The land may have been changed from one government ownership category to another.

Some of it was later sold to developers or institutions.

A special team called an SIT will check the original documents and official records.

It will also examine whether the sales and land-record changes followed the law.

If wrongdoing or illegal occupation is found, the team may recommend action against responsible people.

The team is expected to give the government a report within 30 days.
