Centre Reviews Onion Procurement in Nashik
A team from the government visited Nashik to check how onions are being bought and stored.
They looked at the prices, how many onions are being collected from farmers, and how many are being kept in warehouses.
This visit is important because the government is trying to keep onion prices stable.
Farmers and traders are waiting to see if the government will change its plans for buying onions or make other changes.
A high-level team from the Union Government's Department of Consumer Affairs visited Nashik to assess onion procurement and market conditions.
The team inspected warehouses and reviewed procurement operations by NAFED and NCCF.
Officials evaluated market prices, procurement pace, available stocks, and farmer arrivals.
The visit was confidential, with no official statement issued about its purpose or decisions.
Farmers and traders are awaiting potential revisions to the onion procurement policy or measures to expand storage capacity.
