CJI to intervene if metro stations remain closed
The Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, has said he will intervene if the Supreme Court Metro station and other closed metro stations are not reopened by lunchtime.
This comes after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation closed 16 metro stations, including the Supreme Court Metro station, due to ongoing student protests.
The Supreme Court Bar Association President, Vikas Singh, brought this issue to the CJI's attention, stating that the closure makes it difficult for lawyers and litigants to reach the court.
The CJI has directed that no adverse orders should be passed due to the absence of lawyers affected by the closure.
He has also instructed the court administration to engage with the Delhi Metro authorities to explore solutions.
