Vision IAS Fined Rs 11 Lakh for Misleading UPSC Ads
Vision IAS, a coaching institute, was fined Rs 11 lakh by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) for misleading advertisements.
The ads claimed that many students who got top ranks in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022 and 2023 were part of their foundation course.
However, the CCPA found that only a few students were actually enrolled in the foundation course, while others used different services like test series and mock interviews.
The institute did not clearly mention this, which misled students and their parents.
The CCPA said that such misleading ads create false expectations and can influence students' decisions.
This is not the first time Vision IAS has faced action for misleading ads.
The CCPA has also fined other coaching institutes for similar issues and has asked all institutes to be truthful in their advertisements.
Vision IAS was fined Rs 11 lakh by the CCPA for misleading UPSC result advertisements.
The ads claimed high success rates in UPSC CSE 2022 and 2023 but did not disclose that most successful candidates used different services.
Only 3 out of 119 candidates were enrolled in the foundation course, while others used test series and mock interviews.
The CCPA found that the institute's selective disclosure misled aspirants and violated the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
This is not the first time Vision IAS has faced action for misleading advertisements.
