Bengal Assembly Bypolls Draw Repoll Calls Amid Irregularity Claims

People voted in two Assembly by-elections in West Bengal on Tuesday.

The seats were Nandigram and Rejinagar.

The head of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party, Humayun Kabir, was arrested during polling.

Opposition parties said there were problems with the voting and asked for a fresh election.

The BJP and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari denied the claims.

By 5 p.m., about 79 out of 100 voters had voted in Nandigram.

In Rejinagar, about 78 out of 100 had voted.

No reports of violence during polling were mentioned.
