Eight IPOs worth over Rs 5,500 crore open this week

An IPO is when a company sells its shares to people for the very first time to raise money.

This week, eight companies want to do this, and together they hope to collect more than Rs 5,500 crore.

The biggest is Horizon Industrial Parks, which wants to raise Rs 2,600 crore.

A jewellery company called Lalithaa Jewellery Mart wants to raise Rs 1,700 crore.

Other companies joining in this week include Gaja Alternative Asset Management, Shankesh Jewellers, Sunshine Pictures, and Tempsens Instruments.

Two smaller companies, Mopshop Distribution and Dhanwel Hybrid Seeds, are also raising smaller amounts of money.

After an IPO finishes, the company's shares start trading on the stock market, which is called a listing.

A dozen new stocks are expected to start trading this week.

Investors will be watching closely to see how these new companies perform.
