CJP Protests Lead to Education Minister's Resignation
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to recent paper leaks in competitive exams.
They believe he is ultimately responsible for the leaks and the suicides of students affected by them.
The government, however, did not agree to his resignation and instead replaced the Education Secretary and sacked 47 officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The government also proposed stricter punishments for paper leaks, including up to 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 10 crore.
The CJP initially said that without the minister's resignation, further talks were pointless.
However, after the minister's resignation, the CJP called off their protest and the government agreed to their remaining demands, including financial aid to the families of students who died by suicide and ensuring no action would be taken against student protesters.
