Brazil Supreme Court Affirms Indigenous Land Rights

Brazil Supreme Court Affirms Indigenous Land Rights

The Supreme Court of Brazil made a big decision to protect the land rights of Indigenous people.

Six out of ten judges voted to say that these rights are very important and cannot be changed or taken away by the government.

This decision is important because many Indigenous communities have been waiting for a long time to have their land officially recognized.

Some people in the government and powerful farm groups have been trying to make it harder for Indigenous people to claim their land.

The Supreme Court said that this is not allowed because it would be unfair to take away rights that are protected by the constitution.

This decision might cause some arguments between the Supreme Court and the government, but it is a big win for Indigenous rights.
