AI Deployment Fuels Hiring Race for Forward Deployed Engineers

AI Deployment Fuels Hiring Race for Forward Deployed Engineers

Many companies are trying to use artificial intelligence, or AI, to make their work better.

But putting AI to work inside a company is hard and needs special workers called Forward Deployed Engineers, or FDEs.

These workers are good at writing computer code, understanding how a business works, and talking to customers.

There are not enough FDEs, so big companies are racing to hire them.

Microsoft is spending 2.5 billion dollars and wants to hire about 6,000 of these workers.

Amazon is spending 1 billion dollars on the same kind of team.

Cognizant wants to grow its AI-trained workforce to 15,000 people.

Because experienced FDEs are rare, companies like HCLTech are hiring new graduates and teaching them.

Education companies like Scaler and Apexon are also creating special courses to train people.

These AI workers are paid very well, sometimes much more than regular software engineers, which is why everyone wants to find and train them.
