Mirzapur Film’s Beena Tripathi Survives, But Loses Agency
Beena Tripathi is a character from the Mirzapur series and film.
In the series, she is shown as very clever and independent.
She survives by making her own plans in a dangerous family and criminal world.
In the film, she also survives, but her story is different.
She falls in love with Birju Lohar and asks him to help with a plan against her family.
When Birju is discovered, Beena kills him herself.
The article says this makes her seem less independent than before.
It questions whether the film softened her character for more viewers or because of censorship concerns.
Beena Tripathi survives the events of Mirzapur: The Film, but the article argues her independence has been weakened.
Unlike the series, the film depicts Beena relying on her lover Birju Lohar to help plan an attack against the Tripathis.
Beena ultimately kills Birju after he is caught by her husband and father-in-law, saying that love does not last forever.
The series portrayed Beena as manipulating a hostile system largely on her own, including killing her abusive father-in-law.
The article suggests the film’s changes may reflect a broader-audience approach or an attempt to avoid censorship concerns.
