South Goa ZP Raises Concerns Over PWD Tender Changes
Imagine the government has projects needing to be built, like roads or buildings.
The South Goa Zilla Panchayat (ZP) is worried about changes in how these projects are given to companies.
Previously, if a company bid way below the estimated cost, they would be rejected, because it could mean they'd do a bad job to save money.
The PWD, the government department in charge of this, changed the rules.
Now, they will accept lower bids, but the companies will have to pay more to guarantee they do a good job.
The ZP members are also upset that it takes a long time for proposals, estimates, and bills for development projects to be processed because there are not enough engineers to do the work.
South Goa ZP members discussed PWD tender changes at a meeting.
The PWD altered its bidding process, allowing lower bids.
Concerns were raised regarding potential quality issues in projects.
ZP members will forward their views to the government.
Delays in processing development work proposals were also highlighted.
