Bengal CM Reaffirms Drug Crackdown After Cough Syrup Seizure

West Bengal’s government says it wants the state to be free from illegal drugs.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said police will continue acting against drug sellers and trafficking groups.

Police recently found nearly two lakh bottles of illegal codeine-based cough syrup in Dakshin Dinajpur.

The seized bottles were destroyed.

The company that makes Eskuf Cough Syrup agreed to stop selling it to dealers in West Bengal.

It also took back the product already stored at its local depot.

The government says these steps are meant to protect public health and young people.

The chief minister asked citizens to help create a safer and healthier state.
