Nepal's Oli Responds to Probe on Gen Z Protest Force Use
There were big protests in Nepal called the Gen Z movement.
People were upset about corruption, nepotism, and a ban on social media.
The protests turned violent, and 77 people died.
The government set up a commission to find out what happened.
They asked the former prime minister, K P Sharma Oli, for an explanation.
At first, Oli said he wouldn't talk to the commission, but later he sent a written reply.
The commission is also talking to other people involved, like the former home minister.
The government banned 26 social media platforms, saying it was to prevent hate speech and cybercrime.
But the youth thought it was a way to censor voices and that the real issues were corruption and economic disparity.
Nepal's former PM K P Sharma Oli responded to a probe commission investigating the use of excessive force during the Gen Z protests.
The protests on September 8 and 9 were against corruption, nepotism, and a social media ban, resulting in 77 deaths.
The commission, led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, was formed by the interim government to investigate the incidents.
Oli initially refused to cooperate with the commission, but later submitted a written response.
The government banned 26 social media platforms on September 4, citing the need to prevent hate speech and cybercrime, while the youth saw it as censorship.
