MGNREGA Renaming Sparks Political Controversy
Prashant Bhushan, a senior lawyer, said the government has ended the MNREGA scheme by changing its name and rules.
He also talked about how new laws are making it hard for people to speak freely.
He mentioned that the government is using strict laws to target those who criticize them.
Bhushan believes that freedom of speech is very important for democracy and that the government's actions are dangerous.
Gidugu Rudra Raju, a political leader, said that renaming MGNREGA to Viksit Bharat Guarantee Rozgaar and Aajeevika Mission Gramin is an attempt to remove Mahatma Gandhi's name and legacy.
He said the scheme was important for rural employment and helping poor people.
He asked people to oppose this change.
Prashant Bhushan accused the government of ending MNREGA by renaming and altering it.
He raised concerns about the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act restricting free expression.
Bhushan warned that the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has brought back sedition-like provisions.
He alleged that critics of the government are targeted using laws like UAPA and PMLA.
Gidugu Rudra Raju alleged that renaming MGNREGA is an attempt to remove Mahatma Gandhi's legacy and weaken the scheme.
