Trump Questions Future United States Support for UK in Falklands
Donald Trump was asked whether the United States would help Britain if Argentina challenged British control of the Falkland Islands.
He praised Britain for how it fought in the 1982 Falklands War.
However, he then complained that Britain had not sent ships to help the United States during its ongoing conflict with Iran.
Trump said he had asked Keir Starmer why no ships were sent.
According to Trump, Starmer replied that Britain had no vessels available.
Trump said the United States did not actually need the help.
He also criticized NATO countries for depending on oil moving through the Strait of Hormuz without supporting the United States.
Because of these complaints, Trump appeared to question whether future American support for Britain would be automatic.
