CBDT Data Reveals Gender Gap: Women Represent Under 20%
Imagine the group of people who work for CBDT.
This group includes over 51,000 people.
However, less than 20% of the staff are women.
This is because the percentage of women is lower than men.
While there are no laws saying the government must report how many men and women work in each department, some agencies, like SEBI, do publish this information.
The government was asked about setting aside jobs only for women.
They said they can't because of previous court rulings and constitutional rules about how many jobs can be set aside for certain groups.
CBDT released data showing women make up 17.5% of its total workforce.
Approximately 9,000 of CBDT's staff are women.
In executive roles, women constitute 22.6%.
In non-executive positions, women make up roughly 16%.
The last census of central government employees was conducted in 2011.
