South Coast Railway Launches Cleanliness Drive At Vizag Station
South Coast Railway organized a large cleaning event at Visakhapatnam railway station.
The event was part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
General Manager Sandeep Mathur and railway staff cleaned areas around the station.
They checked platforms, waiting areas, water booths, food stalls and other passenger spaces.
The railway is using machines to clean floors more quickly.
A new electric bin that compacts waste was also opened.
Officials were told to separate and dispose of waste using modern methods.
CCTV and fines may be used to discourage littering.
Passengers were asked not to throw waste on tracks or in station areas.

General Manager Sandeep Mathur led railway officers, department heads and staff in shramdaan focused on “ek din, ek ghanta, ek saath.”
The campaign covered the Gnanapuram station entrance, circulating paths, adjoining premises and platform No. 8.
Officials reviewed mechanised sanitation equipment, including scrubber-driers, jet cleaners, floor sweepers and an electric compaction litter bin.
Railway authorities were directed to strengthen waste segregation, CCTV-based anti-littering monitoring and spot fines, while passengers were urged to help keep the station clean.
