Hyderabad SIR Notices Pile Up as Delivery Lags
Election officials in Hyderabad are checking voter lists through a process called the Special Intensive Revision.
They created notices for voters whose records were not linked properly or had unusual details.
More than 12.5 lakh notices were created, but only about 4.9 lakh had reached voters.
This left more than 7.6 lakh notices still waiting to be delivered.
Voters who receive notices must provide documents to help officials check their records.
Officials held over 14,000 hearings and received many requests to add or correct names.
They digitised about 27.95 lakh of the 47.36 lakh forms given out.
The draft voter list had about 27.95 lakh people.
Jubilee Hills had the highest number of notices generated among the constituencies listed.
Hyderabad authorities generated 12,54,917 SIR notices for unmapped or anomalous electoral records.
Only 4,88,575 notices, or 38.93%, were distributed, leaving 7,66,342 pending.
Jubilee Hills recorded the most generated notices, followed by Karwan and Musheerabad.
Officials conducted 14,431 hearings and received 3,48,751 claims and objections.
