Delhi Rains: Nine Houses Collapse, 16 Trees Uprooted Amid Downpour
Delhi is a big city in India.
It rained very heavily there.
The rain caused many problems.
Nine houses fell down because of the rain.
Sixteen trees also fell over.
In one case, three women were stuck inside a house and firefighters helped them get out.
Roads were filled with water, so people had trouble driving and walking.
Water even got inside a hospital called Safdarjung Hospital, which made it hard for patients to move around.
The weather experts at the India Meteorological Department told everyone to be careful and put out a red alert.
The good news is that lighter rain is expected in the next few days.
Heavy rains lashed Delhi-NCR, causing widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions and damage to residential structures.
The Delhi Fire Service reported nine house collapses since late Thursday night and 16 tree-fall incidents across the city.
Three women trapped inside a house in one tree-fall incident were rescued by fire department personnel.
Severe waterlogging hit Sangam Vihar, the Kapashera border and parts of Safdarjung Hospital, where people waded through knee-deep water.
The IMD issued a red alert for Delhi, with 57.3 mm of rain recorded at Safdarjung in 24 hours and light rainfall expected Saturday and Sunday.
