Liquor Bottles Thrown at Left Leader’s Kolkata Home
Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya said someone attacked his home in Kolkata early Thursday morning.
He said a person on a motorcycle threw four glass bottles at the house, breaking some windows and damaging a camera.
A video appeared to show a person with their face covered, but the news agency said it could not confirm the video was genuine.
Bhattacharya said the attackers threatened him and blamed people he described as BJP-backed Hindutva supporters.
The BJP denied having a political connection to the attack and condemned it.
Police said they had received a complaint and were trying to identify the accused.
Bhattacharya said he planned to ask for a licence to carry a firearm for protection.
Trinamool Congress leaders also spoke out against the attack.
