US Nuclear Industry Prepares Feedback on India’s SHANTI Rules

India has proposed detailed rules for its SHANTI nuclear energy law.

The rules are meant to explain how private companies can participate in the nuclear sector.

The US nuclear industry is preparing comments on these rules.

The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum is organizing the submission.

It plans to send the comments to India’s Department of Atomic Energy by September 4.

Experts discussed licenses, insurance, legal responsibility and how nuclear projects should be organized.

The rules would keep the Indian government in charge of sensitive nuclear activities.

India wants to produce 100 gigawatts of nuclear power by 2047 and build at least five small reactors by 2033.
