Tarapith prepares for Kaushiki Amavasya festival crowds

Tarapith is getting ready for a very large religious festival called Kaushiki Amavasya.

The festival will take place on September 10, 2026.

Many people are expected to visit the temple.

An evening prayer beside the Dwarka River will happen again after being stopped for almost ten months.

The town and roads are being decorated with lights.

A temporary stage will host cultural and religious programs.

Helicopters may drop flower petals over the pilgrims.

Police will use drones, cameras and many officers to help keep everyone safe.

Visitors will not be allowed to enter the innermost shrine or touch Maa Tara's idol.
