Samrat Choudhary Says Nitish Kumar Resigned Voluntarily as Bihar CM
Samrat Choudhary is the chief minister of Bihar.
He said Nitish Kumar chose to leave the chief minister’s job himself.
Choudhary said the BJP did not force Kumar to resign.
He also said Kumar is still the most important leader of the NDA in Bihar.
Choudhary connected the decision to an earlier time when Atal Bihari Vajpayee helped Kumar become chief minister.
In 2000, Kumar briefly became chief minister after an election produced no clear majority.
Choudhary also answered criticism from Tejashwi Yadav about how he became chief minister.
He said Rabri Devi had also first become chief minister without being directly elected to that position.
Choudhary did not predict whether he would remain chief minister through the 2030 state elections.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said Nitish Kumar stepped down voluntarily and was not asked to resign by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Choudhary said Kumar remains the National Democratic Alliance’s undisputed leader in Bihar despite becoming a Rajya Sabha member.
He linked Kumar’s decision to reciprocating Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s support when Kumar first became chief minister in 2000.
Choudhary defended his own position after Tejashwi Yadav described him as selected rather than elected.
He declined to say whether he expected to remain chief minister until the next Bihar Assembly polls in 2030.
