Manipur Resettles Displaced Amid Tensions
In Manipur, people who had to leave their homes because of fighting are slowly moving back.
Some families returned to their homes in areas like Phougakchou Ikhai and Leimaram Waroiching.
The government is helping them with money to rebuild their lives.
However, there was a fight in one area soon after people returned, which made some groups upset.
They said moving people back to such a tense area could cause more problems.
The government and security forces are trying to keep everyone safe, but some people are still afraid of more violence.
They want better protection so they can stay in their homes without fear.
Manipur has started resettling displaced Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities from relief camps.
Around 389 people from 97 families have been resettled in Bishnupur district this month.
Each family received financial assistance of Rs 40,000 initially, with more support planned.
A recent attack by Kuki armed groups in Phougakchou Ikhai raised tensions and criticism from the Kuki-Zo Council.
The COCOMI condemned the attack and alleged that armed groups operate with impunity in Churachandpur.
