CAT Orders DSSSB to Provisionally Accept Assistant Teacher Applications with Age Relaxation
Imagine some people want to apply for a teacher job, but they are a little bit older than the usual age limit.
The rulebook says they can't apply because they missed the age cutoff by a little.
These people went to a special court, the CAT, and said, 'Please let us apply!'
They showed that in similar past cases, the court allowed others to apply even if they were a bit over the age.
The court agreed and told the job application people, DSSSB, to let these 15 people submit their applications for now.
They can still apply even though they are a bit older, but their applications will be checked carefully later to make sure they really are allowed to be teachers.
The court said this is fair because it doesn't hurt the job application people and it gives these older applicants a chance.
The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has ordered the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) to provisionally accept applications from 15 aspirants for the Assistant Teacher (Primary) post.
The aspirants sought a three-year age relaxation, which was not initially granted by the DSSSB.
The DSSSB opposed the plea, arguing that the candidates applied after the deadline and granting relief would set a problematic precedent.
CAT directed DSSSB to accept applications both online and offline, citing parity with previous similar cases.
The candidature of these aspirants remains provisional and subject to eligibility verification and final court proceedings.
