U.S. IPO Gains Fade, Dimming Wall Street’s Blockbuster Hopes

U.S. IPO Gains Fade, Dimming Wall Street’s Blockbuster Hopes

Many companies in the United States sold shares to the public this year.

This first sale of shares is called an IPO.

By the end of June, those new stocks were worth about 24% more than their starting prices on average.

Since then, most of that increase has disappeared.

As of Tuesday morning, the stocks were worth less than 1% more than their IPO prices on average.

This means the early excitement around new stocks has cooled.

Dealogic provided the figures.

Wall Street is now less confident that this will be a very big IPO season.
