Teacher Vacancies and Limited Recruitment Fuel Madhya Pradesh Protest

Teacher Vacancies and Limited Recruitment Fuel Madhya Pradesh Protest

Government schools in Madhya Pradesh have many more teacher positions than the number of teachers working.

Official figures show that 52,571 teaching posts are empty.

At the same time, many qualified people are waiting for government jobs.

They say the government should recruit for more of the empty positions.

The government has announced several recruitment exercises, but the protesters say the numbers are too small.

They have been protesting at Neelam Park in Bhopal since August 21.

The government has continued appointing teachers for the posts already announced.

The protesters want more posts added and another round of counselling.

They also want 25,000 primary teacher posts and at least 10,000 more secondary teacher posts.
