SC sets aside Bombay HC order on dog feeders' mafia case
The Supreme Court of India recently made a big decision.
They said that the Bombay High Court was too harsh when they sent a lady named Vineeta Srinandan to jail for one week.
She was punished because she wrote a letter saying that some people who feed stray dogs might have friends in the higher courts.
The Supreme Court said that even though her letter was not good, she said she was sorry right away.
They thought that the High Court should have been more understanding and not sent her to jail.
The Supreme Court decided to cancel her jail sentence because she was truly sorry.
Supreme Court sets aside Bombay High Court's contempt order against Vineeta Srinandan.
Srinandan was sentenced to one week's imprisonment for a circular alleging a 'dog feeders' mafia'.
The circular suggested that some judges support dog feeders, which the Supreme Court agreed could be contempt.
Supreme Court noted that Srinandan tendered an unconditional apology, which should have been considered.
The apex court found the Bombay High Court's decision to impose custody unjustified and remitted the sentence.
