Singapore Enhances Healthcare, Housing for Migrant Workers
Singapore has announced new plans to help migrant workers, who come from places like India and China to work in construction, shipyards, and as helpers.
The government wants to make their lives better by improving healthcare, housing, and social support.
They will add more clinics so workers can see doctors more easily and create a website to help employers sign workers up for healthcare.
There will also be a new dormitory with better facilities, and more dormitories are planned.
The government will also combine two volunteer programs to help more workers.
All these changes are meant to show appreciation for the hard work migrant workers do to help build Singapore.
Singapore announces measures to improve healthcare access, housing standards, and social support for migrant workers.
More clinics will be added under the Primary Care Plan (PCP) to reduce travel time for medical care, with a centralised online portal for employer enrolment starting April 2027.
MOM and the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) will merge two volunteer schemes into a unified programme in 2026 to expand outreach.
Singapore’s first government-built migrant worker dormitory, NESST Tukang, will open in January 2026, housing up to 2,400 workers with improved facilities.
Six additional dormitories providing 45,000 beds are planned over the next few years, following lessons from the pandemic.
