Delhi Cabinet Approves Jan Vishwas Bill
The Delhi government has approved a new bill called the Delhi Jan Vishwas Bill.
This bill will change how small mistakes or minor violations are handled.
Instead of going to court and facing criminal charges, people and businesses will have to pay fines.
This includes small businesses, schools, and service providers.
The bill will update seven existing laws in Delhi.
Fines will go up by 10% every three years to keep up with inflation.
The government says this will make things easier and faster for everyone.
The bill will be presented in the winter session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
Delhi Cabinet approved the Delhi Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026 to decriminalise minor offences.
Minor violations will attract civil penalties and fines instead of criminal proceedings.
The bill aims to reduce the burden on courts and speed up case resolutions.
Seven Delhi laws, including the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954, will be amended.
Fines will automatically increase by 10% every three years to keep pace with inflation.
