Magistrate Resigns, Alleges Anti-Brahmin Campaign in UP
A government officer named Alankar Agnihotri quit his job because he disagreed with new rules about colleges and universities.
He said these rules are unfair and could cause problems between different groups of people.
He also said that the government is treating Brahmins badly.
The government suspended him for not following the rules.
Some other leaders said this is a serious problem and that everyone should be treated fairly.
Alankar Agnihotri, Bareilly City Magistrate, resigned citing disagreement with UGC rules and alleged anti-Brahmin campaign.
Agnihotri described the new UGC rules as a 'black law' and said they could foment caste-based discontent.
The Uttar Pradesh government suspended Agnihotri on charges of indiscipline and initiated departmental proceedings.
Agnihotri alleged that democratic and republican values are eroding and he could no longer be part of the system.
Political leaders reacted to the development, calling it a serious indicator of administrative pressure and a threat to constitutional values.
