Microsoft Sets Record, Adds $450 Billion to Market Cap in One Day
Microsoft’s stock jumped a huge amount on July 30, 2024, after the company announced better-than‑expected earnings.
The share price went up 15%, adding about $450 billion to the company’s total value.

Microsoft’s cloud service, Azure, grew 43% in the last quarter, which helped make investors feel good.
The company said it will keep its planned spending for the year at $175 billion, unless it sees a big increase in new work orders.
Microsoft shares surged 15% after quarterly earnings, adding nearly $450 billion to market capitalization.
The gain eclipses the market cap of 96% of S&P 500 companies and the combined value of the 41 smallest index firms.
The record jump surpasses Nvidia’s $440 billion single‑day increase from April 2025.
Microsoft’s Azure cloud revenue grew 43% in Q4, the fastest pace since early‑2022.
Company capped 2025 capex at $175 billion, with potential increases only if work orders rise.
