India's Digital Spending Surge Continues Post-Diwali
After the Diwali festival, people in India kept spending money using digital payments like UPI, cards, and wallets.
In November 2024, the average daily spending was higher than in October and September.
Experts think this is because people are buying more things like electronics, groceries, and eating out.
UPI is the most popular way to pay digitally, and it's used a lot in smaller cities too.
Some of the money is also going towards investing in new companies and paying off debts.
This shows that people are feeling more confident about spending money.
India's average daily digital spending in November 2024 was ₹96,017 crore, higher than October and September 2024.
UPI accounted for 94% of digital payments by value in November 2024, overshadowing credit and debit cards.
Spending on electronics, groceries, and restaurants increased significantly in October 2024.
Experts believe the momentum will continue through December and January due to the wedding season.
A portion of the digital payment growth is attributed to investments in initial public offerings (IPOs) through UPI.
