TN Govt Allocates ₹10 Crore for PAP Canal Desilting
The Tamil Nadu government has given ₹10 crore to clean and fix the Parambikulam–Aliyar Project (PAP) canals.
This project will start after the current water release is done.
The work includes removing plants, trash, and cleaning the canals.
The government wants to finish this work before Pongal so that water can be sent for farming.
Farmers and leaders asked for this because the canals need regular cleaning to work well.
The project will help a big area of land in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts.
Right now, water is being sent from the Thirumurthy Dam, but there was a problem that delayed the schedule.
The government is happy to do this work because it's important for farming.
Tamil Nadu government approves ₹10 crore for desilting 154 works across PAP canals.
Works include clearing vegetation, removing debris, and desilting major and minor canals.
Project aims to complete desilting before Pongal to ensure irrigation for the first zone.
Funding allocated for three divisions: Thirumurthy (₹2.88 crore), Parambikulam (₹2.15 crore), Aliyar Basin (₹4.97 crore).
Desilting expected to benefit 1,33,976.62 hectares across Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts.
