Mizoram's Aquaculture and Tourism Growth in 2024-25
Mizoram had a great year in 2024-25.
They produced a lot of fish, over 7,000 metric tonnes, which helps many farmers earn money.
The state has lots of fish ponds and is working to make fish farming even better.
At the same time, Mizoram is also focusing on tourism.
More tourists are visiting, and the government is planning big events and improving infrastructure to make the state a top destination.
They want tourism to help the economy and create jobs.
There are also plans for a big half marathon in 2026 that will attract runners from all over.
Mizoram produced 7,177 metric tonnes of fish in 2024-25, with 22,661 farmers involved in aquaculture.
The state has 3,207 fish ponds covering about 6,000 hectares, with plans to strengthen infrastructure and productivity.
Tourist arrivals in Mizoram increased by 145.54% between 2023 and 2024, driven by improved connectivity and event-driven promotion.
The government is focusing on developing Mizoram as a premium experiential destination, with tourism expected to generate livelihoods and economic spin-offs.
Key tourism events and festivals, including the Aizawl International Half Marathon 2026, are planned to attract more visitors and participants.
