Central Railway Seals Thane Stall After Rat Discovery
Central Railway is the part of the Indian government that runs trains.
They found a rat in a food stall at Thane station, which is a busy train stop in Mumbai.
Because of this, they shut the stall for a week and fined the owner 15,000 rupees.
This is part of a bigger plan to make all train food places cleaner after the state food safety agency started checking more restaurants.
Passengers can now tell the railway about any bad food or dirty places using an online portal.
Central Railway sealed a food stall at Thane station for seven days after a rat was found in the cooking area.
The stall, located in the waiting room, had serious hygiene lapses, including poor sanitation and a rat near vegetables.
CR imposed a Rs 15,000 penalty on the contractor and started disciplinary action for violating hygiene standards.
The move follows a Maharashtra FDA crackdown on food safety and is part of a wider railway hygiene drive across the Mumbai suburban network.
Passengers are encouraged to report hygiene complaints via the RailMadad portal to help improve service standards.
