USS George Washington Leaves Pacific For Middle East Amid China Aggression

A very big ship that carries airplanes, called an aircraft carrier, is leaving the Pacific Ocean.

The United States is sending the USS George Washington to the Middle East to help with a war against Iran.

That means, for a while, there will be no American aircraft carrier in the western Pacific.

Some countries there, like Japan and the Philippines, are worried because China has been acting tough nearby.

China has been doing military exercises with Indonesia and near some islands it argues about with other countries.

The other aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, has been at sea for more than 240 days, which is a very, very long time.

Sailors get tired and need breaks, so the Navy wants to give them some rest.

Some experts think the United States is too busy in the Middle East to watch over the Pacific.

Others think aircraft carriers are getting old-fashioned and easier for enemies to attack.

Countries in the region are watching carefully to see what happens next.
