Airtel Seeks AGR Recalculation After VIL Relief
Airtel, a big telecom company in India, has asked the government to recalculate its AGR dues, which is money they owe based on their earnings.
This comes after another company, Vodafone-Idea, got some relief from the government on their similar dues.
Airtel's chairman, Sunil Mittal, said they want to fix any mistakes in the calculations and make sure they only pay what they actually owe.
The government has already frozen Vodafone-Idea's dues and extended their payment schedule.
Airtel hopes the government will consider their request and use the same rules for everyone.
Airtel has approached the DoT seeking recalculation of AGR dues, similar to Vodafone-Idea's relief.
Sunil Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, stated that Airtel is engaged with the government for reassessment and recalculation.
Airtel's estimated AGR dues are around ₹48,103 crore.
The government has frozen Vodafone-Idea's AGR dues at ₹87,695 crore and extended the payment schedule to FY 2040-41.
