Uber Launches Logistics and Metro Tickets via India's ONDC Network
Uber is starting a new service to help businesses deliver things, like food and eventually groceries, using a government-backed network called ONDC.
They're also partnering with ONDC to let people buy metro tickets through the Uber app, beginning in Delhi and expanding to other cities.
This is a big step for Uber, and it shows how online platforms are growing in India.
ONDC is helping to make it easier for people to get around and for businesses to offer delivery services.
The mobility part of the ONDC network is also growing, with more people using it to get around.
Uber is launching B2B logistics services via the ONDC network, starting with food deliveries.
The service will expand to include e-commerce, grocery, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare logistics.
Uber is partnering with ONDC for metro ticket booking, beginning with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The mobility segment of ONDC saw 8.1 million transactions in February 2024, a 47% increase from October.
Uber previously sold its Uber Eats operations to Zomato in 2020.
