Tamil Nadu to Establish Seven Nursing Colleges, Add 660 Seats
Tamil Nadu plans to open seven government nursing colleges.
Six colleges will be in six districts and will each accept 100 BSc Nursing students every year.
A seventh college in Coimbatore will accept 60 students.
Together, the colleges will create 660 new nursing seats.
Existing medical-college buildings will be used for the new students during the current academic year.
The government also plans to add seats in nursing, paramedical and pharmacy courses.
It says these students will help provide medical services.
Staff for the new intake will be hired temporarily or through contracts rather than as permanent government employees.
