Tamil Nadu Language Push Meets Court Relief for Protest Student

Tamil Nadu Language Push Meets Court Relief for Protest Student

Tamil Nadu’s chief minister plans to ask India’s central government to allow Tamil to be the main language of the Madras High Court.

This would add to a long-running debate about using regional languages in higher courts.

In another case, the Allahabad High Court reviewed the detention of student Akriti Chaudhary.

She had been arrested during a workers’ protest in Noida.

The government detained her under a law called the National Security Act.

The court said the detention was arbitrary, meaning it was not properly justified.

It cancelled the detention and ordered the government to pay her Rs 5 lakh.

These are two separate legal and political developments reported in the live news update.
