Mumbai BMC Polls: Sena UBT Corporator Booked for Unauthorized Victory Rally
Milind Vaidya, a newly-elected Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator, won a seat in the Mumbai BMC polls.
He and his friends had a big celebration parade in Mahim, even though the police had said no.
The police had rules that didn't allow such parades until January 26, and they had already said no to Vaidya's requests.
But Vaidya and his friends still had the parade with loudspeakers and firecrackers.
Now, the police have booked Vaidya and more than 40 others for breaking the rules.
Vaidya had also won the same seat in 2017, but back then it was for the undivided Shiv Sena.
This time, he won against Rajan Parkar from the BJP and two independent candidates.
Milind Vaidya, a newly-elected Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator, was booked for holding an unauthorized victory procession in Mahim, Mumbai.
Vaidya won Ward 182 in the BMC polls 2026 with 14,248 votes, defeating BJP's Rajan Parkar and two independent candidates.
Prohibitory orders were in place until January 26, and the police had denied permission for the victory rally on January 18, as well as fresh applications on January 22 and 24.
Despite the denials, Vaidya and his associates held the procession on January 24 using loudspeakers and bursting firecrackers.
The Mahim police booked Vaidya and more than 40 others for unlawful assembly and violating prohibitory orders.
