Iranian Missile Strike Damages US Aircraft at Jordan Base
Iran fired missiles toward a military base in Jordan that is used by the United States.
Reports said one American A-10 airplane lost a wing.
About eight F-15 airplanes were also lightly damaged, but they were fixed and used again.
No American casualties were reported at the base.
Jordan said it stopped 18 of the 20 missiles and that the other two landed away from people.
The attack came after the United States struck five Iranian tankers.
Iran said its attack was punishment for American actions.
President Donald Trump said the war could end after the US midterm elections, but US officials reportedly warned it might last much longer.
A CBS report said an Iranian strike damaged one US A-10 and about eight F-15s at Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.
The A-10 reportedly lost a wing, while the F-15s sustained minor damage and were repaired and returned to service.
Jordan said it detected 20 Iranian ballistic missiles, intercepted 18, and saw two land in unpopulated areas.
The attack followed US strikes on five Iranian tankers after Iran allegedly targeted a US Navy warship; CENTCOM said the warship was not hit.
Iran called the attack a punitive operation, while Donald Trump predicted the war would end after the November midterm elections despite reports of a possible extension into 2029.
