Opposition Protests RS Chairman's Rule 267 Notice Handling

The Opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha are upset because the Chairman, C.P. Radhakrishnan, did not read out the names of members and the subjects they wanted to discuss under a special rule called Rule 267.

This rule allows members to ask for a discussion that stops all other business in the House.

The Chairman said 21 notices were received but did not meet the requirements set by his predecessor.

The Opposition leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, said it is not fair because the names and subjects should be read out, as it has been the tradition.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman, Harivansh, also did not read the names and subjects of notices under Rule 267, and the Opposition had protested then too.

The Chairman said the notices were being used to create disorder in the House.
