CWC Forms Expert Group for Srisailam Dam Safety
The Central Water Commission (CWC) has set up a group of experts to look at the Srisailam Dam.
There's a big hole, called a plunge pool, near the dam that's getting worse because of water falling into it.
If it's not fixed, it could hurt the dam.
The Telangana government and others have been worried about this and asked for repairs.
The expert group will study the problem, look at similar cases from around the world, and come up with a plan to fix it.
They'll also give advice on how to do the repairs and make sure the dam is safe.
CWC forms a multi-disciplinary committee to assess and address the plunge pool erosion at Srisailam Dam.
The expert group includes representatives from various agencies like CSMRS, CWPRS, GSI, and state governments.
The group will study the damage, look at similar cases worldwide, and recommend rehabilitation measures.
Previous warnings from the National Dam Safety Authority and a study by the AP irrigation department highlighted the potential threat to the dam structure.
The Telangana government has been pushing for repairs to ensure the safety of the dam.
