Bengal Police Seal Stone Trader's Home, Seize Rs 50 Crore Assets
Bengal Police went to the house of a stone trader named Mohammad Nazibuddin, who is hiding.
They found a lot of money, gold, and silver that were worth about 50 crore rupees.
They also looked for evidence of other crimes like stealing taxes and grabbing land illegally.
A police officer said the trader is part of a group that illegally sells sand.
The police also searched a parking lot that might belong to the trader to find more of his stuff.
The trader’s manager, Minar Mondal, was caught earlier with a huge amount of cash and gold.
The police want to make sure all the money and goods are returned to the government.
Bengal Police sealed the house of absconding stone trader Mohammad Nazibuddin (Tullu Mondal) in Subhaspally, Suri, as part of a probe into assets worth nearly Rs 50 crore.
Investigators recovered cash, gold, silver, and documents, and are probing tax evasion, illegal land grabbing, extortion, and mining irregularities linked to Mondal.
The raid followed the arrest of Mondal’s manager and brother‑in‑law Minar Mondal, who yielded Rs 28.5 crore in cash and 15 kg of gold in a separate seizure.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has described Mondal as a “sand mafia” operator, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations.
Police also searched a parking facility in Mohammad Bazar and other properties to trace Mondal’s assets.
